Island Rock's Recreational Youth Programs are perfect for climbers ages 4+ who are looking for weekly climbing programs in a fun and encouraging environment!

Ages 4-5: Pinchers

    This program is designed for the youngest climbers at Island Rock! Participants will climb top ropes with an instructor in a small group setting staffed on a 1-3 coach to climber ratio.

  • Saturdays or Sundays: 10:00 - 11:00 AM
  • Gear rental included, no climbing experience necessary.



Ages 6-8: Crimpers

    Participants will try climbing while harnessed in & belayed by coaches through beginner instruction, fun climbing games & other activities in this 1-hour session staffed on a 1:3 coach-to-climber ratio.
  • Saturdays or Sundays: 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Gear rental included, no climbing experience necessary.




Ages 8-12: Grippers

    *Tailored to the group's unique strengths and abilities; fun, creative & supportive atmosphere. Participants will experience multiple disciplines of climbing while building upon skills and progressing through new curriculum weekly!*
  • Tuesdays: 5:00 - 7:00 PM -or- 7:00 - 9:00 PM
  • Thursdays: 5:00 - 7:00 PM -or- 7:00 - 9:00 PM
  • Gear rental included, no climbing experience necessary.




Ages 13+: Teen Crushers

    Climb & socialize in a supervised environment. Skills taught included: climbing, belaying, rappelling, healthy living, physical fitness & positive thinking.
  • Tuesdays: 7:00 - 9:00 PM
  • Thursdays: 7:00 - 9:00 PM
  • Gear rental included, no climbing experience necessary.




Homeschool Programs: Ages 6+

    Designed for student athletes that are homeschooled and are looking to supplement Physical Education class in a fun and social environment!
  • Tuesday: 1-3 PM
  • Thursday: 1-3 PM
  • Gear rental included, no climbing experience necessary.
